Prof. Davidson Hamer

Dr. Hamer is a board-certified infectious disease specialist with expertise in tropical diseases and travel medicine. He holds certifications from the International Society of Travel Medicine and the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene. As co-Principal Investigator of the GeoSentinel Surveillance Network, Dr. Hamer oversees global surveillance of emerging infectious diseases using travelers, immigrants, and refugees as sentinels. His research includes evaluations of febrile illness, long-term impacts of arboviral diseases, and biomarkers for severe disease.

Dr. Hamer also leads field studies on maternal, neonatal, and child health in Bangladesh, South Africa, and Zambia, focusing on neonatal sepsis prevention, early childhood development, and improving antiretroviral adherence in HIV-positive children. His work bridges clinical research with public health interventions in resource-limited settings.
