​Prof. Ahmed  Alsuwaidi
Prof. Alsuwaidi obtained the MBBS degree from the CMHS/UAEU in 2002. 

Subsequently, he joined UAEU as a teaching assistant and completed a postgraduate training in paediatrics at Dalhousie University and IWK Health Centre, Halifax, Canada. 

Following that, he completed a fellowship training in paediatric infectious diseases at the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada. In 2007, he was appointed as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Paediatrics, UAEU. In 2015, he was promoted to an Associate Professor and in 2022, he was promoted to the rank of full professor. 

Prof. Alsuwaidi is a board-certified paediatrician and infectious diseases physician by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the American Board of Paediatrics. 

Prof. Alsuwaidi has recently been appointed as the Acting Dean for the CMHS/UAEU. 

He has been the Chairperson of the Department of Paediatrics for the past 3 years. Prof. Alsuwaidi is also a Paediatric Infectious Diseases Consultant at Tawam hospital for more than 10 years. 

Prof. Alsuwaidi is active member of several national and international groups. 

Currently, he leads the UAE National Immunization Technical Advisory Group (NITAG). 

He is also a member of the Immunization Agenda 2030 Research and Innovation Working Group (IA2030 Strategic Priority 7), World Health Organization (WHO) and is a member of the Regional Immunization Technical Advisory Group (RITAG) of the Eastern Mediterranean Region/WHO. 

Prof. Alsuwaidi is also member of the Scientific Board of the Infectious Diseases Specialty – UAE National Institute for Health Specialties and the Scientific Board of the General Paediatrics and Paediatric Infectious Disease Specialties - Arab Board of Health Specializations. 

Prof. Alsuwaidi's research interests include the epidemiology of respiratory and gastrointestinal pathogens such as adenovirus, RSV, influenza and rotavirus, childhood tuberculosis, and vaccination (seroprevalence of vaccine-preventable diseases and vaccine hesitancy). 

He has several publications in peer reviewed journals and was awarded by UAEU for publishing in the top 5 and 10% journals.
