Dr. Laith Abu-Raddad

Professor Laith J. Abu-Raddad is a Professor of Population Health Sciences and the founder and leader of the Infectious Disease Epidemiology Group at Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar. He also serves as the Director of the World Health Organization’s Collaborating Center for Disease Epidemiology Analytics.

His academic career is marked by numerous high-impact studies published in prestigious journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine, Science, The Lancet and other Lancet journals, JAMA, and Nature Medicine. His research has covered a wide spectrum of infectious diseases, including COVID-19, HIV, other sexually transmitted infections, hepatitis C virus, tuberculosis, and SARS. Professor Abu-Raddad is recognized as one of the most-published scientists in the field of infectious diseases.

His body of work includes a total of 358 publications, with 276 of them being peer-reviewed original studies. His contributions have earned him a citation h-index of 70/84 (Scopus/Google Scholar), with over 74,000/107,000 citations. His research has had a significant impact, with a SciVal field-weighted citation impact (FWCI) of 17.10. His research has had a lasting impact on public health policies and strategies at the national, regional, and global levels and has served as an expert advisor to various international organizations. Findings of his studies have received extensive coverage in the international press and media.
