Dr. Javier Aragón-Sánchez is a General Surgeon and the Head of the Department of Surgery and the Diabetic Foot Unit at La Paloma Hospital in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain. In 1999, he founded a specialized Diabetic Foot Unit in his hospital. He was the Chairman of the Diabetic Foot Study Group on behalf of the Spanish Diabetes Association.
Dr. Aragón-Sánchez is also a member of the European Diabetic Foot Study Group on behalf of EASD. In addition, since 2015 he has served as a member of the International Working Group on Diabetic Foot Infections. He has also been an Assistant Lecturer at the Health Science School of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria University and the Nursing Department, Complutense University, Madrid.
Dr. Aragón-Sánchez is the author of two Spanish textbooks and several chapters in other textbooks and monographs dealing with diabetic foot problems and he has authored many peer-review papers. His main research interests are in the field of diabetic foot infections and osteomyelitis.
