Welcome to our very first airway conference here at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC). The Qatar Conference on Airway Management in Special Circumstances is not only the first of its kind in Qatar, but also in the entire Middle East. This tremendous organizational effort, spearheaded by our very own internationally renowned airway expert Dr. Nabil Shallik, and in partnership with the Difficult Airway Society (DAS) and the European Airway Management Society (EAMS), aims to highlight the big airway topics of our time. It will bring together a fantastic group of international speakers to discuss the common and uncommon airway challenges that we as practitioners are faced with, along with the latest cutting edge and evidence-based research that may help us surmount these challenges. There will also be pre-conference workshops and airway-related blended discussions. I personally look forward to listening to the amazing lineup of speakers planned for this conference and invite everyone to enjoy the wonderful networking opportunity that this conference will bring as well. And to those visiting from abroad, don’t forget to enjoy our beautiful city of Doha, that is gearing up for the imminent FIFA World Cup 2022! It is exciting times indeed.
