Tracheostomy Care Workshop
 
   Venue: Ambulatory Care Center
   
   Learning Outcomes: At the end of this activity you will:
   
      - Be able to apply best skills& care for the tracheostomies patients.
 
      - To list  the update knowledge related to tracheostomy care 
 
      - To demonstrate the equipment’s should be used and to be available for each patient with tracheostomy tube in the ward or bedside. 
 
      - Be able to diagnose & distinguish the complications related to tracheostomy tube.
 
      - Have references to share their knowledge and experience across HMC.
 
   
 
This one day course is designed to give both the knowledge and skills through the guideline provided in the course booklet and a series of lectures also a 4 hands on training stations. 
There will be also a pre and post evaluation test.
The number of candidates is 30-34 divided in 4 groups (red, green, yellow, blue) in four separate
 Hand – on rooms

      Tracheostomy Tube Change: Professional Development Project
   
   
   
      
         The Corporate Tracheostomy Committee and ORL-HNS (ENT) Section are organizing Tracheostomy Tube Change Training for respiratory therapists, nurses and other paramedics to improve the management of low risk tracheostomy tube change within the Corporation.
      
         After completion, candidates will be evaluated by competent clinicians. If successful, they will be awarded a certificate and an opportunity of changing tracheostomy tubes in low risk patients identified as follows: 
      
         
            - 
               Thin neck
 
            - 
               Not in ventilator
 
            - 
               No granulation tissues
 
            - 
               No previous history of difficult change
 
         
       
      
         They will also each have a logbook to record their activities utilizing the experience for one year as follow-up on their training. It is expected that the training will expand the professional experience of our allied health professionals under proper guidance of our esteemed clinicians.

                It will run for three to four months and selected candidates will spend six weeks in the ENT out-patient tracheostomy tube changing clinic and another six weeks in the inpatient wards.
