Dr. Wafa Al Yazeedi
Senior Consultant and Chairperson of the Qatar Rehabilitation Institute

 
Dr. Wafa Al Yazeedi graduated from the Arabian Gulf University in Manama, Bahrain with a BSc in Health Science in 1992, and earned her MD in 1997 in the same university. 

After completing her internship and residency at Hamad Medical Corporation in 2001, Dr. Al Yazeedi worked in Stockholm, Sweden in various medical institutions focusing on neurorehabilitation programs. During her specialist training program, she worked in different specialties at Karolinska Institute Hospitals-Huddinge, Sodermalm, Karolinska-Solna, Uppsala and Frosunda Clinics. She worked mainly in head trauma, stroke, spinal cord injury, pain management in the inpatient units for acute, post-acute and long term care neurorehabilitation programs, and rehabilitation day care clinics for outpatients.  In 2005, Dr. Al Yazeedi earned the title of Specialist in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation from the Swedish Board in Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Medicine. Dr. Al Yazeedi has registered as a PhD student at Karolinska Institute in Sweden under the Neurtec Department, with several scientific papers in Rehabilitation. 

Returning to Qatar in 2005, Dr. Al Yazeedi joined HMC as an attending physician in the inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation program, and subsequently as an attending physician for acute and post-acute rehabilitation patients at Rumailah Hospital, a member hospital of HMC. She is currently Senior Consultant and Chairperson of the Qatar Rehabilitation Institute (QRI). 

Dr. Al Yazeedi is also Postgraduate Training Program Director of HMC’s Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department, and is Assistant Professor of Clinical Rehabilitation Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar. Dr. Al Yazeedi is the founder and president of the Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine Physicians Club of Qatar, a member of the International Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (ISPRM). Dr. Al Yazeedi is Vice President of the Gulf Disability Society, and a member of several other committees that tackle disability and rehabilitation issues in Qatar, including the National Strategy for Rehabilitation Committee. She was the Chairperson of the National Disability and Fitness Committee 2007 - 2010. 

Recently she completed her Executive MBA program, HEC Paris and also done Senior Clinical Leaders Program under Massachusetts General Physicians Organization. Dr Wafa has been leading an important the National Traffic Safety Committee. She was the Chairperson of the24th World Congress of International Traffic Medicine Association (ITMA) Congress that was held in Doha from 16th to 18th of November 2015.
