Dr. Mohammed Hassan Kharita

Mohammad Hassan KHARITA (born 05-03-1966) joined Hamad Medical Corporation as Director of Radiation Safety in the Occupational Health and Safety Department (OHS). He was a Radiation Safety Consultant in the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) 2013-2015. He took the position of Director of Research in the Atomic Energy Commission of Syria 2010-2013, occupying the position at both the Head of Nuclear Science Technology Training Centre and the Head of Health Physics Division. He was the Head of the Radiological and Nuclear Regulatory Office (the Regulatory Authority in Syria) between 2008 and 2010 and the Deputy Head of Protection and Safety Department in the AECS between 2003 and 2008. From 1996 to 2003 he was the Head of Human Protection Division in the Protection and Safety Department.

He obtained his Ph.D. Degree in Applied Radiation Physics (Radiation Dosimetry) in 1996 and his M.Sc. degree in Applied Radiation Physics in 1992 at the University of Birmingham, UK. He obtained his B.Sc. in Physics I 1987 at the University of Damascus, Syria.

He had vast experience with the IAEA as an expert to more than 20 missions. He was the Course Director for many National, Regional and Interregional training courses held in the Atomic Energy commission in collaboration with the IAEA. He was Chairman of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Steering Committee on Education and Training in Radiation Protection 2011-2012 and member of this Steering Committee from 2002 until 2013. He was also Member of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Steering Committee on the implementation of the International Action Plan Occupational Exposure Control, from 2005 until 2010.

He is Member of the Editorial Team of Journal of Hospital Administration (International Peer-Reviewed and Open Access Journal for Healthcare Management Specialists) and his CV consists of more than 28 peer reviewed articles.
