Developing effective leadership skills is a crucial requirement for
nurses working at every level of the system. Leadership skills are not
exclusively reserved for those in leadership and managerial positions.
Regardless of position, all nurses require the confidence and skills to
enable them to ensure the delivery of high quality, safe, and effective
patient-centered care. This session will focus on exploring leadership,
priorities, skills and methodologies that have been used globally to
transform nursing care, including examples of improvement methodologies
to engage staff.
At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- List key leadership approaches to apply to the workplace
- Discuss practical leadership techniques for all organizational levels
- Describe quality methodologies which have been widely used to engage front line staff in nursing transformation
- Describe elements that underpin successful transformation
