Work Stream: Patient Engagement
Level: All
Room Capacity: 100

As recipients of health care services, patients and family members offer a perspective often overlooked when making change. When patients and their families feel respected, informed, and cared for in a timely way, it is reflected in all levels of the system.  Patient-centeredness is also associated with hospitals that have safer, more effective care. Yet hospitals are also grappling with identifying those actions that will lead to significant levels of improvement in this area. This session will focus on strategies and tools for clinicians at the point of care to successfully engage patients and family members in your organization’s improvement work.

At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
  • Discuss how a positive patient experience can impact quality, safety, and staff engagement
  • Describe two strategies for working in partnership with patients and family members
  • Discuss how to integrate these strategies into your hospital or system
