The Clinical Chemistry Division is spread across numerous hospitals and Pediatric Emergency Centers (PEC). The service is organized in a typical hub and spoke model, with state of the art fully automated Central core lab in Hamad Medical City and Rapid Response Laboratories in satellite hospitals. Specialized testing is performed in the Biochemical Genetics & Newborn Screening Laboratory and the Special Chemistry Laboratory. We provide digitally and technologically advanced near patient testing services (point of care testing) across the whole of Hamad Medical Corporation. The laboratories are operated by a team of highly qualified, skilled and experienced personnel using advanced methodologies and modern equipment. These are supported by a clinical interpretative and consultative service. Our central and rapid response laboratories provide essential chemistry/endocrine tests and urgent testing respectively. The Biochemical Genetics & Newborn Screening Laboratory provides high complexity testing and several laboratory developed tests on tandem mass spectrometry, High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) used for diagnosis and monitoring of Inborn Errors of Metabolism. The section also run the National Newborn Screening program for the State of Qatar. The Special chemistry laboratory provides a diverse repertoire of esoteric tests supporting many clinical disciplines including endocrinology, hematology, gastroenterology, and neurology. To provide the highest quality results the laboratory employs a range of sophisticated analytical techniques including electrophoresis, chromatography, mass spectrometry and spectrophotometry.

Near Patient Testing services are provided to all hospitals, pediatric emergency centers, mobile and home healthcare services and Hamad International Airport.

The Division supports an ongoing education and training program to develop both staff and external trainees and preparing the workforce of the future. It also supports collaborative research and development activities.
