Dr. Javed Akhter
Dr Javed Akhter is the Vice Chair of Operations and Head of the Preanalytical Division in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at the Hamad Medical Corporation. He holds a PhD from Leicester University in the United Kingdom. He is registered as a Clinical Scientist in the United Kingdom with the Health Professions Council and previously passed the American Board of Bioanalysis.
He worked in the United Kingdom National Health Service, holding posts of Chief Biomedical Scientist, Head - Molecular Diagnostics, Virology and Serology, Quality Manager and University Lecturer. He has featured in Marquis Who’s Who in the World, Marquis Who’s Who in science and engineering and International WHO’S WHO of Professionals.
Dr Akhter has worked extensively in the Middle East. He has held the post of Head, Clinical Virology and Molecular Diagnostics, Head GMO Laboratory and Director of Safety at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Riyadh as well as Director Quality Management, Director Health and Safety and Clinical Scientist Virology at the King Abdulaziz Medical City, National Guard Health Affairs.
Dr Akhter has over 60 publications in peer reviewed journals and 3 book chapters. He has served as an international College of American Pathologists (CAP) inspector and served on numerous advisory groups. He is also a Competent Toastmaster.
