1p/19q FISH Testing
1p/19q FISH FFPE Test is to analyze oligodendroglioma brain tumors.
Method name and description
Interphase Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization (I-FISH) Study
Clinical information
The Interphase Fluorescence In Situ hybridization (I-FISH) test is utilized to analyze Oligodendroglioma brain tumors, shown in both low-grade and high-grade (anaplastic) oligodendrogliomas. To detect reaction for treatment of oligodendrogliomas.
This may be valuable in tumors with a complex "crossbreed" morphology, requiring separation from unadulterated astrocytoma to bolster the nearness of oligodendroglial differentiation/lineage. Unequivocally suggested when a conclusion of blended oligoastrocytomas is rendered.

Factors affecting test performance and result interpretation
The presence of 1p deletion and dual 1p and 19q deletion underpins a conclusion of oligodendroglioma, this may demonstrate that the quiet could react to chemotherapy and radiation treatment. The presence of pick up of chromosome 19 bolsters a conclusion of high-grade astrocytoma (glioblastoma multiforme). A negative result does not prohibit a determination of oligodendroglioma or high-grade astrocytoma.
