The determination of the avidity of IgG antibodies to Toxoplasma gondii in human serum and plasma.

For HMC users only: This test cannot be ordered directly, it will be added by the lab for pregnant patient found to be positive for Toxo IgG & IgM.

Factors affecting test performance and result interpretation

- Low Toxoplasma IgG avidity indicates recent infection, but

does not confirm it as risk factors for primary infection should be reviewed.

- High toxoplasma IgG avidity suggest that recent primary infection is unlikely
