You cannot change what happens, but you can change your response.
You can learn to think differently by changing your unhelpful thoughts into helpful ones.
Thinking differently makes you feel better.
Keep in mind
There are events in which feeling upset, miserable, sad or angry is inevitable.
Examples include:
if the person you care for needs to go to the hospital or if you lose a dear friend or family member. To change your thoughts in such events would not do justice to your feelings.
