Around 1 to 15 percent of six to seven year olds around the world have symptoms of allergic rhinitis. About 25 percent of 13 to 14 year olds also have these symptoms. Allergic rhinitis is found in around 16 percent of adults. Adults are probably more likely to have the persistent kind.

Anyone can get allergic rhinitis, at any age. Usually people get it in childhood or early adulthood. It can get better or worse from year to year but usually ends up getting better slowly, and over many years.
