Kevin Rooney



Kevin Rooney, MBChB, FRCA, FFICM, FRCP, Professor of Care Improvement, University of the West of Scotland, is also a consultant in intensive care and anesthesia at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, where he has served as Lead Clinician in Critical Care for the Greater Glasgow and Clyde Health Board and pursues his interest in patient safety and health care quality improvement. As Clinical Lead for the Acute Adult Workstream of the Scottish Patient Safety Programme for Healthcare Improvement Scotland, Dr. Rooney led its successful breakthrough series collaborative on sepsis. He is a Fellow of the Scottish Patient Safety Programme and a Founding Member of the Q initiative for the Health Foundation and the National Health Service. As critical care faculty for the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, he has taught quality improvement in programs around the world. Recent awards include the 2015 Scottish Health Awards Doctor of the Year award and an NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Chairman’s Gold Award for Excellence in Clinical Practice in 2014.​
