On behalf of Hamad Medical Corporation and the HMC Precision Medicine Committee, I am pleased to welcome you to the 1st HMC Virtual Precision Medicine Conference, which will take place from 5 to 6 November 2021. Given that Oncology has been at the forefront of much of precision medicine around the world, we have decided to focus our first conference on this important topic and our theme therefore is: “Precision Medicine in Oncology”.

This two-day virtual conference will be a milestone in the history of Qatar in the emerging and innovative field of precision medicine. It supports our overarching goal to harness the potential of precision medicine for prevention and early intervention by identifying at-risk individuals and designing healthcare delivery around their needs.

It is a wonderful opportunity to not only educate healthcare professionals and researchers but to deepen the understanding of changing ideas and innovative way of management.

Participants will be able to learn and see first-hand how precision medicine is impacting clinical practice, research, and education in Hamad Medical Corporation and other clinical settings.

I am convinced that this will be an excellent event for all healthcare professionals, allowing you to learn many new things as well as share your experience with other healthcare professionals.

Dear Colleagues,

I am delighted that our Steering Committee has selected Oncology as the theme for our first Precision Medicine Conference as this is one of the most active areas for precision medicine research and development in the world.

Precision oncology is rapidly developing as an important means for the molecular profiling of tumors to identify what and how best to provide treatment for a specific patient. Amazing strides have been made in this field over the past decade which has enabled precision oncology to enter the mainstream of clinical practice.

This conference is designed to offer an important forum for knowledge sharing, learning, and networking. A wide range of emerging topics will be discussed ranging from molecular diagnostics to clinical application of precision medicine in oncology.

As a senior consultant in medical oncology and hematology, this topic is one that is close to my heart, but I strongly believe that this conference will appeal to physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals from other disciplines as well. I look forward to your active participation.
