About Arab Nurses Day 2023

The Arab World consists of 22 countries in the Middle East and North Africa: Algeria, Bahrain, the Comoros Islands, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Mauritania, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen.

On the 15th of March 2021 the Arab Board of Ministers of Health declared that all Arab countries would celebrate Arab Nurses and Midwives Day annually on the 3rd of November. The aim of holding such a day is to commemorate the significant efforts of professional nurses and midwives and their valuable contribution to healthcare sectors across the Arab world. The day, and the celebrations organized within each country, are intended to promote a sense of community and collaboration between nurses and midwives across in each healthcare sector.

While each country can decide on local activities to commemorate Arab Nurses Day, Qatar's event is organized by Hamad Medical Corporation, and endorsed by Qatar's representatives to the Arab Nurses Day Regional Committee, Ms. Mariam Nooh Al-Mutawa (Acting Chief Nursing Officer, Corporate Nursing & Midwifery Department, HMC).
