Welcome Message from the President of ACP

Dear fellow internists,
I join my esteemed colleague, Prof. Abdel-Naser Elzouki, in encouraging you to be part of the 4th Qatar Internal Medicine Conference (QIMC) in Doha, 12 to 14 October, 2017. As President of the American College of Physicians, I am honored that the ACP will be an integral part of the conference.

The American College of Physicians is the largest medical specialty organization and the second-largest physician group in the United States. ACP members include 148,000 internal medicine physicians, related subspecialists and medical students across the U.S. and worldwide. The College takes particular pride in providing its members and guests with the best possible educational experiences. Certainly, we try to achieve that at our annual Internal Medicine meeting, typically attended by 7,000 to 9,000 internists and related specialists from the U.S. and throughout the world. A program modeled after a typical ACP Internal Medicine meeting is exactly what we hope to represent at the 4th Qatar Internal Medicine Conference in Doha.

As Prof. Elzouki has described, attendees at the Doha conference will witness “the best of the ACP internal medicine meeting.” We will offer our best speakers and provide our most engaging formats. Continuing medical education is essential for ongoing professional development, but it also should be fun!  I invite you to participate in our challenging programs including clinical dilemmas and subspecialty updates, and joins with your colleagues in learner-active sessions like the well-known team contest, “Doctors Dilemma". I can assure you, if you are not planning to travel to New Orleans for the next ACP Internal Medicine Meeting in 2018, this program will be an excellent substitute. You will see and hear the visiting ACP faculty throughout the program. I hope you can attend and share with the ACP faculty your knowledge and perspectives on matters of central importance for internists worldwide.

On behalf of the American College of Physicians and our gracious hosts from the Internal Medicine Department, Hamad General Hospital, Hamad Medical Corporation, I look forward to seeing you at the upcoming 4th Qatar Internal Medicine Conference in Doha.
