Prof. Abdullah is an ophthalmologist and academic, renowned for his expertise in Orbit, Ophthalmic Plastic, and Reconstructive Surgery. His educational journey began at Sultan Qaboos University in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman, where he earned his Medical Degree (MD). Driven by a passion for advanced medical training, he moved to Montreal, Canada, to further his expertise in Ophthalmology. He completed his post-graduate residency training at McGill University and followed this with a specialized fellowship in Orbit, Ophthalmic Plastic, and Reconstructive Surgery at the same institution.
In the summer of 2006, Prof. Al-Mujaini returned to Oman, joining Sultan Qaboos University Hospital as a Senior Consultant and Head of the Oculo-Plastic Service. He landed a pivotal academic role in 2016, when he became an academic staff member and Head of Ophthalmology Services at the College of Medicine, Sultan Qaboos University.
Beyond his academic and clinical duties, Prof. Al-Mujaini has held numerous leadership positions in the medical community. He chaired the Board of Trustees at the University of Buraimi in Oman and played a significant role in shaping the future of ophthalmic training as the Chair of the Ophthalmology Residency Program at the Oman Medical Specialty Board. Additionally, he served as the Director of Training at Sultan Qaboos University, where he contributed to the development of medical education in the region.
Prof. Al-Mujaini is highly active at the national, regional, and international levels, chairing several committees related to the field of ophthalmology and medical education. His influence extends beyond administrative roles, with over 85 peer-reviewed publications and two book chapters to his name. He has been a featured speaker at numerous international conferences and events, sharing his research and clinical experiences with global audiences.
