Dr. Iskandar is consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology and General Internal Medicine. As a specialist in the field of Diabetes and Endocrinology. He manages patients with presenting to outpatient departments as well as acute hospital admissions with medical conditions or complications relating to type-1 and type-2 diabetes, obesity and related comorbidities, thyroid and parathyroid disorders, pituitary diseases, adrenal disorders, pancreatic disorders, hypogonadism, ovarian failure, general endocrinology and disorders of minerals. In addition to this specialist field, he’s also accredited as a Specialist in General Internal Medicine. Dr. Iskandar is principal investigator with the Medical Research Council (MRC) Musculoskeletal Physiology and Ageing Research, the Nottingham Digestive Diseases Biomedical Research Unit, the Vascular Research Group and Center of Musculoskeletal Ageing Research (CMAR), the latter an internationally recognized collaborative venture between Birmingham and Nottingham Universities. His research focuses on molecular and physiological mechanism by glucagon like peptide -1, testosterone, very low calorie diet, exercise and other novel nutritional intervention that can regulate muscle mass, blood flow and insulin resistance; as well as pharmaco-epidemiological and clinical research pertaining to insulin therapy in diabetes, bariatric and vascular medicine
