Dr Hamed is a senior Consultant old age Psychiatrist at the department of behavioral medicine, Sultan Qaboos University Hospital, Muscat Oman and chairman of Oman Alzheimer’s Society.
He completed his Psychiatric training in London UK specializing in old age psychiatry. He established the first old age psychiatry service in Oman upon his return in 2011.
He participated in both national and international conferences and conducted regular courses and workshops for members of the public about mental health stigma, dementia and regular Communication skills workshops for junior doctors and other health care workers.
Dr Al Sinawi is involved in clinical teaching undergraduate Medical Students and supervising research projects at the College of medicine and the psychiatry residents as part of the Oman medical specialty Board.
He was part of the organizers committee for the “your mental health campaign” at Sultan Qaboos University, which aims to address stigma toward mental illness and improve public awareness on mental health.
He has several publications in areas related to public perception of mental illness, stress and burnout, dementia and depression.
