Prof. Amar Agha

Prof. Amar Agha MB, MD,  FRCPI, is a Consultant Pituitary Endocrinologist at Beaumont Hospital and Clinical Professor of Endocrinology at the  Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin, Ireland. 

He graduated from Trinity College in Dublin and underwent basic medical training followed by specialist training in Endocrinology and Diabetes in Dublin. He subsequently completed  research and clinical fellowship posts at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham and at St. Bartholomew’s  hospital in London before returning to Dublin. 

Prof.  Agha’s research interests include the areas of pituitary dysfunction after head trauma and radiotherapy, Pituitary tumors, glucocorticoid  replacement therapy and the interaction between growth hormone and the thyroid and adrenal axes. He has more than 100  peer reviewed  publications  on  pituitary and endocrine topics. He is the recipient of several national and international research and publication  awards. He was a  Senior Editor of BMC Endocrine Disorders between 2014 and 2020.
