Prof. Dr. Dr. Martin Steinhoff

Professor Martin Steinhoff, MD, PhD, MSc, FRCPI, is the Chairman of the Department of
Dermatology and Venereology, Director of the Dermatology Institute and Director of
the Translational Research Institute, HMC.

He is also the Residency Program Director at HMC and full-Professor at Weill Cornell Medical College, New York, USA as well as Weill-Cornell Medicine-Qatar, and Qatar University.

Prof. Steinhoff studied Medicine (MD) and Human Biology (PhD, summa cum laude) in
Germany from University of Marburg. After residency in Dermatology/Venereology, he became Assistant Professor at University of Muenster, rising from assistant to full professor in six years.

He holds board certificates in Dermatology, Venereology, Phlebology and Allergy. His clinical fields of interests are inflammatory skin diseases, personalized medicine and -omics technologies.

Prof. Steinhoff is an established physician scientist with a long-standing background
in basic and clinical research. His group has discovered several mechanisms which are
now basis for new therapies of skin diseases and have been published in highly ranked
journals like Nature Medicine. In 2021, he has been ranked among Top 2% dermatologists
worldwide. He is an author contributing to most relevant textbooks for Dermatology (e.g. Rook's, Fitzpatrick's). Prof. Steinhoff's current research has been funded with more than 60 Mio[NOO1]  Euro in 21 years. His group has published more than 250 articles (IF > 1250; H-index 83), 47 book chapters, and more than 700 abstracts. He holds 11 patents, gave over 600 invited lectures, has been consultant for more than 25 companies, was principal investigator on more than 20 clinical trials, and serves on the advisory board of various societies and industry partners.

Prof Steinhoff has received several prestigious international research awards worldwide. He has been a member of the board of directors of the European Society of Dermatology Research (ESDR), and an honorary member of several Societies for Dermatology.
