​Ilkay Baylam

Assistant Director, Planetree                 


Ilkay Baylam joined Planetree in May 2017, providing consultation to key stakeholders on the implementation of Planetree’s relationship-centered model of care and international designation criteria as well as organizational assessments. He has been the Assistant Director since April 2018, acting as a coach by offering implementation support and guidance to lead healthcare institutes to ensure successful outcomes co-designed to improve patient and staff experience of care and work life.  

Prior to his current role, Ilkay Baylam worked as a full time Manager for Patient Centered Care at Anadolu Medical Center (AMC), Turkey where he oversaw and coordinated the implementation and continued development of AMC’s patient centered care culture. He was responsible for providing management, growth and oversight in promoting a culture of patient centered care which emphasized outstanding service and compassion to patients, their family members and staff.   

Prior to this, he worked as a Medical Staff Assistant Specialist from 2007 to 2008 and then as a Project Specialist between 2008 and 2012 coordinating projects such as ‘Cornea Transplantation to Iraqi Children Project’ (a joint project between Johns Hopkins Medicine and AMC), ‘Cancer Screening Project’ (a community benefit project) and ‘AMC Premium Project’ (a CRM project). Between 2012 and 2013, he was an Operations Supervisor to the President/CEO where he liaised between executive staff and hospital operations and acted as the matrix administrator for the emergency service. In addition to his past roles at AMC, he served as the primary liaison for Johns Hopkins Medicine International from 2008 to 2018.  

Mr. Baylam holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Yeditepe University in Istanbul, Turkey and a Bachelor’s degree in Tourism Management from Dokuz Eylul University in Izmir, Turkey. Mr. Baylam is also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and a member of the International Liaisons Committee of American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE).
