Professor O'Sullivan has developed a worldwide reputation in airway management with a substantial portfolio of clinically relevant research. She is past president of the Difficult Airway Society (DAS), and was appointed DAS Professor of Anesthesia and Airway Management. She is also recipient of IAMS distinguished contribution award 2018. She co-chaired WAMM1, Dublin and WAMM2 in Amsterdam.
She is Past-President of the College of Anesthesiologists of Ireland and Past Vice-President of the Association of Anesthetists (AAGBI). She was awarded the AAGBI John Snow Silver Medal in 2013 for her contributions.
