Dr. Mufid El Mistri graduated in 1985 with a medical degree from  Bologna University in Italy. He went on to obtain his specialization in Medical Oncology from the University of Modena in Italy in 1990 where he also undertook his Post Doctoral studies.

Dr. El Mistiri has previously been the principal investigator at the Benghazi Cancer Registry (2002-2010) and for Qatar Cancer Registry (2010-2014).

In 2012 he was elected a Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh and in 2013 he was appointed Assistant Professor of Medicine, Weill Cornell Medical College, Qatar.

He is currently Senior Consultant Medical Oncology, National Center for Cancer Care and Research (NCCCR) at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) where he is also head of the Cancer Registry Section.
