Dr. Anas Hamad, PhD, MSc, BPharm, DMS

Director of Pharmacy Department, National Center for Cancer Care & Research and Head of Medication Safety & Quality Center, Hamad Medical Corporation

Dr. Anas joined HMC in 2006 as a Staff Pharmacist at Hamad General Hospital (HGH) after graduating from the Faculty of Pharmacy, The University of Jordan. In 2009, he acquired a MSc degree in Clinical Pharmacy, International Practice and Policy from the School of Pharmacy, University of London (currently UCL). Afterwards, he worked as an Internal Medicine Clinical Pharmacist at HGH. Dr. Anas completed a PhD in Clinical Practice and Medication Use in 2015 at the Institute of Pharmaceutical Science, King's College London. During his PhD study period (2013), he also acquired an Executive Diploma in Health Services Management from Greenwich School of Management. Upon his return from the UK, Dr. Anas acted as the Assistant Director of HGH Pharmacy for Clinical Services and Quality Improvement. Afterwards, he was appointed as the Director of Pharmacy Department at the National Center for Cancer Care & Research (NCCCR). Dr. Anas is also the Head of Medication Safety & Quality Center, a recently established initiative by the corporate Pharmacy leadership to enhance effective and safe use of medicines across HMC. Dr. Anas acquired a sufficient experience in conducting and assessing research. He has five publications in international peer-reviewed journals. He is currently a reviewer for the International Journal of Clinical Pharmacy. He reviewed abstracts submitted for the International Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare for two consecutive years (2013 & 2014). He is a core member in the HMC Institutional Review Board in addition to various hospital and corporate committees focusing on pharmacy practice, medication use, research, and quality and patient safety.
