Welcome message from the organizers
Dear Colleagues,
The healthcare landscape in the Middle East is undergoing rapid transformation as populations increase exponentially and societies in the region continue to mature.
This year’s edition of the Middle East Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare (ME Forum) addresses the issues of how to maintain or improve existing healthcare systems while facing continuing pressure on resources and increasing demand for services due to population growth.
As operating budgets for public healthcare providers in the region contract, it is even more imperative for hospitals and medical centers to find ways to improve operational efficiency, while maintaining their focus on quality improvement and patient safety.
The ME Forum 2016 will delve deeper into the science of improvement and the importance of leadership in providing the right direction for delivering these improvements. The forum will also highlight how organizations can transform clinical interventions and clinical systems to improve their efficiency, and demonstrate how patient engagement continues to be the most crucial factor in delivering a better patient experience.
New to this year’s conference is a set of pre-forum intensive workshops designed to kick start debate and critical thinking among participants. Each of the half-day interactive seminars will provide excellent introductions to the forum themes and offer those who have signed up a unique opportunity to have extended access to international experts on quality improvement and patient safety.
As usual, we welcome our special international guest speakers and also acknowledge the quality improvement partnership between Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) – a relationship that has gone from strength to strength over the past five years, and has provided the impetus for HMC to develop its own quality improvement department, the Hamad Healthcare Quality Institute (HHQI).
Quality improvement initiatives will again be showcased in the poster and storyboard competition, and as always, the forum will feature a knowledge zone area where participants can network and quality improvement can be discussed in a more informal way.
Thank you for joining us and have a great forum.
Have a great Forum!
