Dr. Jameela Al-Ajmi

Dr. Jameela Alkhowaiter Al-Ajmi is senior Consultant in adult Infectious Diseases at the Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and Assistant Professor in Clinical Medicine at the Weill Cornell Medical College-Qatar (WCMC-Q).

 Dr. Aljmi earned her Arab board specialization in internal medicine in 2002 and went on for clinical attachment at Wayne University, Michigan / MD-Anderson Cancer Centre. Texas. She completed her post graduate diploma & Master of science in infectious diseases from university of London -London school of hygiene and tropical medicine and Re-certified board in infection control 2021. She was appointed as executive director of Corporate Infection Prevention and Control Program since 2015. She has served on many committees including Prevention and control of infection committee at corporate level, head of out- Break committee, chairman of water safety, infection control polices committees and member of the national committee of weapon prohibition. Dr. Jameela is fellow at institute of health care improvement in patient safety 2013 -2014 and she is a Lean-Six Sigma Black Belt certified in patient safety and quality

She is also has made a great contribution to the training program of quality improvement, Infection control and prevention where she was selected to be Director of infection control course with George Washington university and medical training center- HMC and speaker in different workshops and conferences. She is teaching quality improvement modules for the public health master’s degree student-university of Qatar

 She was involved in many Quality Improvement projects to promote patient safety by reducing the risk of acquiring and transmitting infections such as corona virus, Ebola and Tuberculosis. She had consistently displayed a remarkable ability to cope up with different areas like oversight Clinical Microsystems coaching program, coaching improvement project team aiming to reduce central line associated blood stream infections 

She was recognized in star of excellence Employee Awards and recognition program at HMC for star of Excellence Award for best leadership project (reduction of HCAI in NICU 2010), Glowing star award for distinction in practice, Award of merit for distinction in practice and Award of merit for technological innovation for 2011. 

She has put in her great efforts during COVID-19 pandemic to reinfornce infection control strategies to prevent infection. She is particularly interested on issues relating to general infectious diseases, infection control and clinical risk management. Her works have been published in a variety of medical publications in different national and international journal.
