Dr. Mariam Ali Abdul Malik

Dr Mariam Alabdulmalik, Managing Director of Primary Health Care Corporation running 28 Health centres across the State of Qatar and serving more than 85% of the state’s population. She has led the transformation of Primary HC services to meet the needs of the community through a Patient Cantered Care Model. As PHCC Leader, Dr Mariam holds overall responsibility and authority to deliver strategic change and implement Qatar’s National Primary Healthcare Strategy with a focus on primary care as the foundation for enhancing health and wellbeing ensuring the highest quality of service and safety. She is currently managing QR 2467 m annual budget.

Dr Mariam is a Senior Consultant in Family Medicine, a graduate in Medicine and a holder of Arab Board certification in Family Medicine. She completed her Academic Fellowship in Family Medicine, at the University of Toronto, Canada. She is highly involved in dozens of research and holds a master’s in business administration. Dr Mariam is one of the core leaders of health care services in Qatar, she has more than 27 years of expertise and experience in health systems management and held several leadership positions since 2001.

During Covid-19 Dr Mariam was selected as the chair of the Health Tactical command Group 2: Community by HE, Dr Hanan Al Kuwari. In her role, Dr Mariam is responsible for all community activities related to the containment of Covid-19 outbreak including screening, quarantine, ports of entry, contact tracing and healthcare in closed areas, as well as containment measures at all ports of entry into the country. All operational public, private and voluntary sector entities involved in these functional areas. This also included a leading role in delivery of the vaccination campaign as well as prevention management and a focus on the vulnerable groups within the community, conducting national programmes to reduce their risk.

Dr Mariam is also a member of the National Strategic Command Group- chaired by Dr Abdullatif Al Khal where the HTCG2 falls under its command. The National Strategic Command group has been responsible for delivering national strategic decisions for the health sector during the Covid-19 pandemic.
