Dr. Mukesh Thakur
Dr. Mukesh Thakur MBBS, MRCP (UK), CCST (UK), IA(USA), FRCP (Edinburgh) is working as a Senior Consultant in Internal medicine and Executive Director for Quality and Patient Safety in Hamad General Hospital. He is an alumnus of Harvard Business School. He has had his training in internal medicine at The Royal College of Physicians Edinburgh and Joint Royal Colleges of Physicians Training Board (JRCPTB) UK.
He has extensive clinical experience of over 20 years in various internal medicine specialties, of which more than 12 years have been in the National Health Service, UK. He is Assistant Professor of clinical medicine on Weill Cornell Medical College Qatar and teaching young clinicians about best practices in Medicine at the frontline.
He worked as a senior consultant in the Acute Internal Medicine Department at Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust UK, which is one of the largest healthcare facilities in England. During this period, he led the department to establish acute care pathways, medical ambulatory care clinics and played vital role in transformation of the unit into a center of excellence providing high quality training and education. He pioneered practice of Simulation in Acute Medicine Training programs.
He served as Director of Training Program in General Internal Medicine (Yorkshire and Humber Postgraduate Deanery), Lead for Simulation in Acute Internal Medicine (Hull Institute for Learning and Simulation), and Examiner for The Royal College of Physicians UK and Core Faculty (East Yorkshire School of Endoscopy). He has many research, posters and presentations under his name.
He joined Hamad Medical Corporation in August 2015 and is involved in several education and quality improvement initiatives. He is trained as Improvement Advisor from Institute for Healthcare Improvement, Boston, USA and Lean for Healthcare from University of Tennessee USA. He has led many quality improvement initiatives in Hamad General Hospital and is a faculty for many national and international teaching programs.
