Dr. Muna Al Maslamani is the appointed Medical Director of All COVID-19 Cases in State of Qatar and Medical Director of
Communicable Disease Center and Assistant Head of Infectious Diseases Division–Medicine Department at Hamad
General Hospital, Hamad Medical Corporation, Qatar. She is a Senior Consultant in Transplant Infectious Diseases for
the Division. Dr. Muna added an Msc-HealthCare Management (RCSI-Bahrain) and IHI Fellowship (Institute of Healthcare
Improvement & Hamad Medical Corporation) in 2015 to her list of educational achievements which includes MBBS (KFUKSA,
1997), Certification Arab Board Medical Specialization-Internal Medicine (CABMS-Internal Medicine-Syria,2002),
Certification of Complete HMC-Infectious Disease Fellowship Training Program (HMC-IDFTP-Qatar,2006). In addition
from clinical responsibilities, she also holds various administrative and academic positions in and outside HMC, namely
Vice Chairperson for Quality and Patient Safety–Medicine, Fellowship Program Director for Infectious Disease and also
Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine in Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar (WCM-Q) and Clinical Associate Professor of
Internal Medicine & Infectious Diseases in the Department of Clinical Academic Education, College of Medicine at Qatar
University. Dr. Muna was elected as Assistant Chairperson-Department of Internal Medicine from October 2006 till
September 2012, then Acting Chairperson Department of Internal Medicine till December 2012. She is part of various
hospital committees and a member of American College of Physicians, Infectious Diseases Society of America,
Transplant Infectious Diseases Society and Immunocompromised Host Society. Dr. Muna is a great role model who is
committed to improving the quality of patient care and takes necessary steps to motivate others in doing the same. Her
role as a sponsor for the Clinical Care Improvement Training Program (CCITP) of Quality Division and her involvement in
IHI Best Care Always Campaign has produced 55 Quality Improvement Projects till date. She received various Intramural
and External research grants and was able to partner with international researchers in conducting clinical research and
published 67 publications till date. In the past five years, she received 3 major grants from QNRF’s NPRP cycle totaling
$2,308,120 and currently granted a 5year QNRF funded research totaling in the amount of $687,696. Several Leadership
and Service awards which she received for her achievements are an evidence of her passion and commitment towards
work and patients. She is a regular speaker and moderator at many Infectious Diseases Conferences.
