MRC - Annual Research Day (ARD)

The theme for ARD 2017 was ‘Strategic Foresight for Research Resilience’. By this event research strategy at the national level was discussed to build HMC’s research strength, harness opportunities for collaborations and introduce a culture of research planning and foresight throughout HMC, which can be translated into efficient patient care. 

More than 400 guests attended the ARD 2017 at the Grand Hyatt Doha on the 27th of November 2017. The keynote speaker for the event was Dr. Hadi Abderrahim, Strategy Lead, Healthcare and Biomedical, Qatar Foundation Research & Development. Dr. Abderrahim shared his thoughts on Research, Strategic foresight and Resilience at a national level. The program also included a featured panel session with some of the top R&D representatives of Qatar as panelists. The theme of the panel was ‘Building a Strong Research Ecosystem that is sustainable and resilient in uncertain environments’ and the discussion included exploring possibilities for  Qatar to build a focused, sustainable, supportive, and strategically resilient ecosystem of research, geared towards national needs.

“Our researchers at HMC are committed to pursuing new treatment methods and practices in order to ensure we are able to deliver the highest quality of care possible, with the best outcomes for patients,” said Professor Ibrahim A. Janahi, Executive Director of Research at HMC. 

Another featured session was the presentation by Prof. Khaled Machaca, Professor of Physiology and Biophysics, Associate Dean for Research, Weill Cornell Medicine Qatar. The session focused on ongoing research at WCMQ and gave attendee researchers an opportunity to understand the work and explore potential collaborations.
