What is a Standardized Patient?

A Standardized Patient (SP) is someone who is trained to act as a real patient in medical training. They portray specific medical conditions and symptoms, allowing healthcare students to practice their skills in a realistic setting. By engaging with Standardized Patients, students learn how to communicate effectively, take patient histories, and conduct examinations, all while receiving valuable feedback. This role is essential for helping future healthcare professionals develop the confidence and competence needed to provide high-quality care.
