HGH has played an important role in Qatar’s growth and development in recent decades, but now is the time to look ahead and plan for the future. This is why HGH is embarking on a major modernization program which will deliver a comprehensive upgrade of systems and facilities within the two inpatients towers and several additional areas within the hospital.
In the coming months the two inpatient towers will be vacated and several outpatient clinics will be relocated to other hospitals, but Hamad General Hospital will continue to be the busiest hospital within HMC’s network. More than 370 beds remain open, covering medical, surgical and critical care services as well as our Trauma and Emergency Center. Hamad General Hospital will also continue to operate the Bone and Joint Center, Pediatric Emergency Centers, and Fahad Bin Jassim Kidney Center.
In recent years HMC has opened several new facilities, including Mesaieed Hospital, Aisha Bint Hamad Al Attiyah Hospital and the Medical Care and Research Center in Medical City. This means that we are in the fortunate position of having the available capacity to relocate inpatients while the HGH renovation work takes place. These new facilities all provide state-of-the-art environments for our patients and there is no doubt that patients will receive the highest quality care in these new facilities while HGH undergoes its modernization program.
Despite the closure of some beds at HGH, HMC’s overall bed capacity is increasing. The opening of new beds and services at Aisha Bint Hamad Al Attiyah Hospital and the Medical Care and Research Center, among other HMC facilities, ensures that patients continue to receive high-quality care without interruption.
We will continue to keep our patients, visitors and the wider public updated about future developments and if you have any questions relating to the renovation work, please either speak to our staff in person or call the Nesma’ak Customer Service team on 16060.
On behalf of all staff at Hamad General Hospital, we thank you in advance for your support and cooperation during this process.
