Welcome
International Nurses Day is an important date to all nurses and midwives – it is a time for us to acknowledge our value and importance for the future of healthcare.
As nurses and midwives, we carry much of the responsibility for the welfare, safety and recovery of our patients. We as Nurses spend most of our time caring for our patients and their families.
Often our nurses and midwives work in challenging and stressful environments. But we are also very resilient and our nurses’ ability to work collectively, supporting each other, is amazing.
Our profession has transformed during the last decade; nurses have great knowledge and many diverse skills – and we continually work on developing and perfecting these skills.
The compassion we, as nurses and midwives, demonstrate each day is what really matters and makes a difference to the experience that our patient has. Our nurses are integral to the delivery of unique patient-centered care.
Our Nurses are Our Future

Combining celebration and professional development
Introduction
International Nurses Day (IND) is celebrated around the world on 12 May, the anniversary of Florence Nightingale's birth. The International Council of Nurses (ICN) uses this as an opportunity to celebrate nurses world-wide, along with its national nursing association members in different countries, of which the Qatar Nursing Association (QNA) is one.
HMC employs the largest nursing workforce in Qatar and is proud of the truly international, multicultural group of professionals who work as frontline staff within its numerous hospitals, clinics, residential and homecare facilities, as well as in administration, education and leadership roles. Whatever their role, these nurses are committed to delivering the safest, most effective and compassionate care to patients and their families.
To commemorate this auspicious day and recognize nurses and their important role in healthcare in Qatar, HMC is organizing a face-to-face event in 2023. The celebratory and educational event will provide an opportunity for nurses to participate in learning and fun activities.
