On November 17 and 18 nurses from across HMC gathered at the Club Hotel in Hamad Bin Khalifa Medical City to learn about a new career framework that will be implemented across the nursing service as part of HMC’s Nursing Strategy. The framework, known as the Nursing Career Framework, has been developed in an effort to give nurses clear guidance on expectations and opportunities for career development. On December 2 and 3 additional sessions will be held at the Club Hotel and at the Al Wakra and Al Khor Hospitals.

The Nursing Career Framework is comprised of three distinct areas which include: the ‘core behavior framework’, the ‘role competency framework’ and the ‘skill competency framework’. During a series of scheduled sessions nurses will have the opportunity to learn specific information about each aspect of the Nursing Career Framework, as well as to ask questions and receive detailed material about the framework.

Pre-registration is required for the December 2 session, starting at 7a.m. at the Club Hotel. While registration is not required for the Al Wakra sessions, starting at 11a.m. and 12p.m. on December 2, nor for the Al Khor sessions, starting at 8a.m. and 9a.m. on December 3, nurses are asked to contact their nursing administration office in order to confirm their attendance. Kindly note that seating is limited for all sessions; additional information, and registration for the Club Hotel session, is available at the below link

This framework supports the fundamental belief that both effective staff and the delivery of high quality and safe patient care go hand in hand. As we move forward with revolutionizing how we deliver patient care here at HMC, this framework will be an important step towards our vision of becoming one of the best nursing services in the world.
