Hamad Medical Corporation implements person-centered care (PCC) principles to enhance patient experiences and outcomes. This approach involves focusing on the individual's values, preferences, and needs throughout their healthcare journey.
In March 2018, HMC’s the Center for Patient Experience and Staff Engagement (CPESE) signed a partnership with internationally renowned US-based healthcare organization, Planetree International.
Planetree provided HMC with a clear path forward to achieving that vision by implementing the Person-Centered Care (PCC) Certification framework. The collaboration between HMC and Planetree strengthen HMC’s capability to delivering a person-centered approach to care. It also builds on the work that CPESE has done to improve staff and patient engagement across the HMC network.
HMC applies person-centered care by considering individuals’ needs and preferences to positively influence patient outcomes, well-being, and experiences for both patients and their families. By implementing PCC, the goal is to foster open communication and strong collaboration between patients and providers, strengthening their relationships.
Additionally, PCC helps shape HMC's organizational culture by promoting compassion, empathy, and active engagement at every level, encouraging a supportive environment for both staff and those they serve.
