Overview:

Qatar Rehabilitation Institute (QRI) is Qatar's premier specialist rehabilitation facility, dedicated to serving both adult and pediatric patients recovering from conditions such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and various neurological and musculoskeletal disorders. QRI places a strong emphasis on continuous improvement and data-driven healthcare practices to ensure the highest quality of care.

Patient Visits:

In 2022, QRI proudly recorded approximately 193,415 outpatient department visits. Among these, 48% were Qatari patients, while 52% were non-Qatari patients. This diverse patient base underscores our commitment to serving the entire community.

Inpatient Admissions:

QRI saw nearly 1,000 inpatient admissions, with an average length of stay of 43 days. The average wait time for admission was just 20 hours, demonstrating our dedication to prompt care. Most admissions were in our Stroke units, followed by traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury units, with others for neurological and musculoskeletal conditions.

Discharge and Patient Safety:

QRI prioritizes efficient patient flow and safe discharge. In 2022, approximately 975 patients were safely discharged, with 72% returning home locally, 15% transferred safely to their home countries, and 10% transferred to other facilities for specialized care. Notably, there were no in-hospital patient deaths, serious events, hospital-acquired infections such as Clostridium Difficile & Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus infections, and pressure injuries.

Fall Prevention:

QRI maintains a strong focus on patient safety, exemplified by a significantly low fall rate well below international benchmarks. This achievement is a result of strict fall prevention measures and continuous monitoring.

Functional Outcomes:

Patient functional outcomes are essential indicators of rehabilitation success. QRI closely monitored Functional Independence Measure (FIM) gain, which exceeded the international benchmark with average FIM gain of 30.2, demonstrating our commitment to patients' progress.

Reduced Wait Times:

For outpatient services, QRI worked diligently to reduce wait times. Key achievements include wait times of approximately 11 days for Qatari patients and 20 days for non-Qatari patients in the Pediatric speech therapy department. The Pediatric Physiotherapy department in Bin Omran reported average waiting times of around 3 days for urgent and 11 days for regular appointments. Additionally, the prosthetic and orthotic department achieved an average initial assessment wait time of around 12 days, surpassing the target of 14 days.

Patient Satisfaction:

QRI is delighted to report high patient satisfaction rates, with over 97% satisfaction for inpatient services and over 94% for outpatient services. These results reflect our ongoing commitment to providing exceptional care to our valued patients.

At QRI, we remain dedicated to continuously improving our services, ensuring the well-being and recovery of our patients. Thank you for entrusting us with your rehabilitation needs.
