Outpatient Appointment Process

To access outpatient services at Al Wakra Hospital, a referral is required from one of the following sources:

  • Primary Health Care Center
  • Emergency Departments of HMC facilities
  • Sidra Medicine
  • Private healthcare providers

Patients without a scheduled appointment may be seen based on medical urgency but should expect longer wait times.

Referrals

All electronic referrals are reviewed (triaged) by a physician. Once your referral is accepted, the HMC Referral and Booking Management System (RBMS) will contact you via phone call or SMS to schedule your appointment. If you have a paper referral, you can upload it through the Nesma’ak Patient Portal. Once submitted, RBMS will register your referral in the system.

View Your Appointment Online

You can view your upcoming appointments by visiting the MyHealth Patient Portal. To learn more about the MyHealth Patient Portal or receive support in using it, please contact Nesma’ak at 16060 or Hayyak at 107.

Cancel or Change Your Appointment

If you need to cancel or reschedule, please inform us as early as possible by calling 16060. We kindly ask that cancellations be made at least two days in advance to allow other patients the opportunity to access care.

On the Day of Your Appointment

Follow-Up Appointments

Your care team will involve you in discussing your treatment plan and next steps. If a follow-up is needed, please book it at the reception desk before leaving the clinic. Available dates and times will be shared with you, and upon confirmation, you will receive an SMS with your appointment details. If you are scheduled for surgery or a procedure, please proceed to the Surgical Tracking Office (STO) to finalize your surgery date.

Tests and Procedures

Following your consultation, your care team may recommend additional tests or procedures. A nurse will guide you to the appropriate department within Al Wakra Hospital to complete them.

  • Urgent tests: You may be asked to return to the clinic reception to review the results with your doctor on the same day.
  • Non-urgent tests: Results will be documented in your medical record and available via the MyHealth Patient Portal. Your doctor will review them with you during your next scheduled appointment.
