Dr. Ahmad Al-Sabbagh is a Senior Consultant in Hematopathology and Flow Cytometry within the Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and Director of South Hub Laboratories. He oversees laboratory services at Al Wakra Hospital, Hazm Mebaireek General Hospital, and Mesaieed Hospital, leading the delivery of comprehensive laboratory and advanced diagnostic services in alignment with HMC’s standards for quality, safety, and patient-centered care.
Dr. Al-Sabbagh is American Board-certified in Clinical and Anatomic Pathology and in Hematopathology. He completed his residency and subspecialty fellowships at leading institutions in the United States and joined HMC in 2011, where he has held several senior leadership roles, including Division Head of Hematopathology and Laboratory Director at the National Center for Cancer Care and Research (NCCCR).
In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Al-Sabbagh is an Assistant Professor at Weill Cornell Medicine–Qatar and is actively involved in medical education, research, and national clinical initiatives. He has an extensive portfolio of peer-reviewed publications and research initiatives focused on hematologic diseases and precision medicine.
He is a Fellow of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), and a member of the International Clinical Cytometry Society (ICCS). Dr. Al-Sabbagh continues to contribute to advancing pathology and laboratory medicine and supporting the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care across the healthcare system.
