Test ID: Diffuse Large B‐Cell Lymphoma (DLBCL) panel by FISH
Diffuse Large B‐Cell Lymphoma (DLBCL) panel by FISH
This test panel identifies a set of particular structural chromosome anomalies commonly associated with Diffuse Large B-cell Lymphoma.
Method name and description
Interphase Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization (I-FISH) study.
Clinical information
This test panel identifies a set of particular structural chromosome anomalies commonly associated with Diffuse Large B-cell Lymphoma using the desired probes, eg: MYC, IGH/BCL2 and BCL6 for corresponding chromosomes 3q27, 8q24, and t(14;18)(q32;q21).
Routine chromosome examination is also required to be performed on all diagnostic samples and is suggested on all bone marrow specimens to exclude abnormalities not identified by the desired FISH probe(s).

Factors affecting test performance and result interpretation
Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma (DLBCL) could be a lymphoid neoplasm, especially including large (microscopic) B cells. This FISH panel is outlined to distinguish the most common, and/or prognostically-significant abnormalities in DLBCL,
This may help in discrimination between DLBCL and other lymphomas (Swerdlow et al. 2008), as well as revealing ‘double hit’ lymphomas (Aukema et 2011). FISH studies are valuable adjuncts to total chromosome studies, especially when taking after an abnormal clone, evaluating relapse and progression, or when a sample is insufficient for chromosomal examination.
