Test ID: FFPE Lymphoma Panel by FISH
FFPE Lymphoma Panel by FISH
FISH test is done on Formalin-Fixed, Paraffin-Embedded (FFPE) tissue slides for diagnosis of Lymphoma.
Method name and description
Interphase Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization (I-FISH) study.
Reporting name
FFPE Lymphoma Panel by FISH.
Clinical information
This test panel identifies a set of particular structural chromosome anomalies commonly associated with B-cell Lymphoma on FFPE slides, using the desired probes Eg: MYC, IGH/BCL2 and BCL6 for corresponding chromosomes 3q27, 8q24, and t(14;18)(q32;q21).

Factors affecting test performance and result interpretation
The FISH panel is outlined to distinguish the most common, and/or prognostically-significant abnormalities in B-Cell Lymphoma, it may help in differentiating between DLBCL and other lymphomas (Swerdlow et al. 2008) as well as revealing ‘double hit’ lymphomas (Aukema et 2011).
FISH studies are valuable adjuncts to total chromosome studies, especially when taking after an abnormal clone, evaluating relapse and progression, or when a sample is insufficient for chromosomal examination.
