Obtaining a health card allows residents of Qatar to access services at HMCs healthcare facilities and hospitals. Single residents can apply through the PHCC or HMC facilities. Married residents should apply through the PHCC only.
Benefits of Having a Health Card
- Subsidized consultations and treatments: Consultations and non-emergency treatments may cost extra but are subsidized for health card holders.
- Subsidized prescriptions: Health card holders can obtain prescriptions at government-run pharmacies at subsidized rates.
How to Obtain a Health Card

Download and open the Nar'aakom app
- The Nar'aakom app is available for download on both Android and iOS platforms.

Log into the National Authentication System (NAS)
- Use your QID number and password to login.

Register for a new health card
- Choose the ‘register for new health card’ service.

Select the applicant
- If you are applying for yourself, select your name. If you are applying on behalf of someone else, select their name.

Complete the required information
- Provide the necessary personal and contact details.

Upload the required documents
- A copy of the applicant’s QID.
- A copy of the rental contract or KAHRAMAA bill.

Submit the application
- Review the information and documents, then click on ‘submit’.

How to Renew a Health Card
Renewing a health card is a simple process and can be done immediately at any HMC hospital. Please follow the steps below to ensure a smooth renewal process:

Visit an HMC hospital: Go to any HMC hospital ask our Patient and Visitor Service Center staff for directions to the health card renewal location within the hospital.

Online renewal: Health cards can be renewed online via the
Hukoomi Qatar Government Portal.
Applying Online
- Enter the QID number.
- Select the ‘renew’ transaction type, then click on ‘next’.
- Enter the number of required years to renew the health card and add a telephone number.
- Enter an email address select ‘yes’ to receive the receipt voucher by email if that is preferred.
- Enter a mobile number if selecting ‘yes’ to receive SMS notification.
- Click on ‘next to move to the ‘payment details’ page, then click on ‘pay’.
- Pay the appropriate fees and submit the application.
Applying Offline
Visit any HMC facility or health center affiliated to the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC).

Submit the following documents:

Qatari (Adult): Copy of valid QID or passport, and passport-size photo (4cmx3cm)

Qatari (Child): QID number and the old health card

GCC Citizen (Adult): Copy of ID, QID number, and the old health card

Resident (Adult): QID with valid residence permit and the old health card

Domestic staff: QID with valid residence permit, the old health card, and the QID of sponsor

Pay the appropriate fees.
Applicable fees depend on the type of applicant as follows:
- Qatari adults and children: QR50
- GCC citizens, whether adults or children: QR50
- Residents, whether adults or children: QR100
- Domestic staff: QR50
How to Replace a Lost Health Card
If the health card is still valid:
- Qatari national: QR50 for a replacement.
- Non-Qatari: QR100 for a replacement.
If the health card has expired:
- Qatari national: QR100 for a replacement.
- Non-Qatari: QR200 for a replacement.
