Itqan Clinical Simulation and Innovation Center
The Itqan Clinical Simulation and Innovation Center is a state-of-the-art education and training facility located on the Hamad Bin Khalifa Medical City (HBKMC) campus of Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) in Doha, Qatar. It is one of the world’s largest simulation centers and the largest facility of its kind in the region. Itqan Clinical Simulation and Innovation Center was awarded Provisional Accreditation status for Teaching/Education by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare in January, 2023.
The Center is transforming clinical education and training in Qatar by providing healthcare professionals and students with the opportunity to develop and refine their technical clinical skills as well as improve clinical judgment, prioritization, communication and teamwork skills.
The Itqan Clinical Innovation and Simulation Center supports HMC’s strategic objective to be a thriving and integrated Academic Health System which makes significant, positive impacts upon patient care, health professions education, and medical research. The facility supports and fosters translational research, seeking to advance research knowledge and clinical innovations more rapidly from “bench to bedside.”
Accreditation by the Prestigious Society for Simulation in Healthcare
SSH-Accreditation is the gold standard in healthcare simulation. It signifies commitment to excellence and sets an institution apart from the competition. It ensures that the facility embodies quality care; SSH-accredited programs are more likely to provide high-quality simulation experiences that lead to better patient outcomes.
Itqan Clinical Simulation and Innovation Center was awarded Provisional Accreditation status for Teaching/Education by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare in January, 2023, and now, has received Full Accreditation in April 2024.
Accreditation covers two specific areas of focus; Core and Teaching/Education.
The SSH-Accreditation board confirmed that all criteria were met in the areas of; Educational Activities; Educational Activity Design; Qualified Educators; and Evaluation and Improvement. The accreditation is in effect for 5 years.
