Welcome Message

Nurses and midwives are the backbone of healthcare systems, providing vital services across a wide range of settings, from hospitals and clinics to homes and communities. They play a pivotal role in promoting health, preventing disease, and offering compassionate care to patients in need. Their expertise extends beyond physical health, encompassing emotional support, education, and advocacy for their patients.

The history of nursing and midwifery in the Arab world is deeply rooted in ancient civilizations that recognized the importance of healing and the art of caring for others. Today, our nurses and midwives carry forward this legacy, blending traditional wisdom with modern medical knowledge and technology. They embody the values of compassion, empathy, and cultural sensitivity, providing holistic care that respects individual beliefs and customs. Moreover, nurses and midwives who work in the Arab world are a blend of the global communities we live in – each bringing something special from their culture and tradition that adds to a richness of our society and matches the multi-cultural patient population we care for.

The Arab Nurses Day 2023 is dedicated to honoring and recognizing the invaluable contributions of nurses and midwives in the Arab world, regardless of where they come from or what nationality they carry. This day serves as a reminder of the tireless efforts, unwavering dedication, and the profound impact that all nurses and midwives. who work across the Arab world, have on the health and well-being of individuals and communities.

To commemorate this day, we are organizing a two-day conference, on Friday 17 and Saturday 18 November 2023, that will combine celebratory as well educational elements. The 3rd Arab Nurses and Midwives Conference 2023 is an opportunity for all of us to express our gratitude and appreciation for the incredible work of these healthcare guardians. Their dedication and expertise empower individuals, families, and communities, and contribute to healthier societies. The theme for this year’s conference is: "Arab Nurses and Midwives: Together as the Force for Global Health and for Our Future”

This conference is organized by Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health, Primary Health Care Corporation, Army Hospital, Doha Police Clinic, Sidra Medicine and Aspetar. I look forward to your active participation – either by registering and attending, or you can submit an abstract to be considered as a presenter. The hybrid event is intended to enable locally based individuals to attend in person, while interested participants from other Arab countries, who wish to benefit from the educational sessions as well as share their experiences, can attend online.

So please join us to celebrate nursing and midwifery achievements and to reaffirm our commitment to supporting and uplifting the nursing and midwifery professions in Qatar and the Arab world.
