Chronic pain management is an outpatient-based service delivered through outpatient clinics across 7 different sites. The service runs 23 clinics every week and in 2021 had 12987 outpatient consultations. The chronic pain service is run by highly trained pain consultants and specialists, most of whom have international qualifications. The service provides a range of treatments such as treatment for musculoskeletal pain, neuropathic pain, cancer pain. In addition to pharmacological management the service also provides interventional pain management including advanced treatment methods such as neuromodulation (spinal cord implants).
The service also runs a pain management fellowship which is a two-year training program.
