Dr. Shannon Connor Phillips

Dr. Shannon Connor Phillips has had a long career as a healthcare executive with experience across several large healthcare delivery systems leading safety, quality, and experience, medical groups and operations. She held multiple executive roles in healthcare delivery, most recently, Vice President and Region Chief Medical Officer for Ambulatory Care and President of Intermountain Medical Group at Intermountain Health, the largest integrated healthcare delivery system in the Intermountain West. Prior to this role, she led and transformed Intermountain Health’s experience, safety and quality team, deeply integrating these core strategic pillars into operations to accelerate results and strengthen organizational culture. She joined Intermountain from Cleveland Clinic where she served as associate chief quality officer, its’ first patient safety officer, and founding leader of the Department of Pediatric Hospital Medicine.

Dr. Phillips was a hospitalist pediatrician and a Senior Fellow in Hospital Medicine. She has been recognized on the Becker’s Hospital Review’s list of Hospital and Health System ‘CXOs to Know’ and the ‘50 Patient Safety Experts to Know.’ She served on the Board of Directors of the National Quality Forum and has been a visiting professor and invited consultant to organizations in the U.S. and across the world.

She earned her undergraduate degree from Emory University, medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons and Master of Public Health from Johns Hopkins University. She completed her pediatric residency at Children’s National Medical Center. Shannon and her husband, Mike, are the proud parents of four fantastic daughters. a granddaughter and a grandson. She spent her career relentlessly focused on health care and caring. She hopes that healthcare will be empathic, safe, effective, seamless, equitable and human-centered experiences for all involved.
